BARROW WATER SUPPLY SCHEME AREA EXTENSION

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Kildare County Council and Dublin City Council, is progressing the commissioning the Barrow Water Supply Scheme Area Extension project. This project has extended the water supply from Srowland Water Treatment Plant in Co. Kildare and facilitated a strategic link with Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant. David Walsh Civil Engineering  was the Contractor appointed to carryout these works.

With the demand for water increasing, it is essential that water resilience projects are progressed to ensure that there is an adequate supply of treated water for now and into the future, to support population growth and social and economic development. This vital project has increased the security and resilience of the drinking water supply for Kildare and the wider Greater Dublin Area (GDA).

The works for this project included:

  • Construction of two new booster pump stations at Brannockstown and Carnalway to facilitate the transfer of water from the Old Kilcullen reservoir towards Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant.

  • Upgraded the pipework connections, controls and telemetry at Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant and Old Kilcullen Reservoir.

MEICA Consulting Engineers Ltd provided MEICA Resident  Engineering Services including review of Contractor's Design for the project. MEICA Consulting Engineers were working for Nicholas O' Dwyer on this project.
