NATIONAL LEAK REDUCTION PROGRAMME

As part of the national Leakage Reduction Programme, Uisce Eireann are working across the country to repair bursts and fix underground leaks.

Currently the Leakage rate is about 37% of treated water is lost through leaks before it even reaches our taps.

 

Many of underground water pipes are now old and damaged and need to be repaired or replaced to improve our water quality and supply.

 

Despite the challenges, progress is being made as in 2018 the rate of leakage nationally was 46%, by the end of 2022 it was 37%. Uisce Eireann are on track to achieve a national leakage rate of 25% by the end of 2030.

MEICA Consulting Engineers Ltd are support these efforts with the provision of Resident Engineering staff to the Leak Reduction Programme. MEICA Consulting Engineers are working for RPS Consulting on this project.
